Most new computer buyers want to get something that looks the part. You can talk gig of this, and megs of that to them till yer face turns blue, what they will do is look at the pretty case, and see whats sticking out the front, that is IF they are savvy enough to have worked out that the little box thing has some important role in the system.
I'm still meeting people who are shocked to find out that there are more to computers than mouse, monitor, and keyboard. People often buy the prettiest box and hide it under the desk so the kids can kick it when they lose games.........

I got a good reason to have a nice box, the brains of my computer are sitting on the desk, beside the monitor, They sit in the corner of my vision for hours each day. But then again, whats the point in see-through sides, if the sides been off it for over a year?

65283 2002-07-26 00:05:00 Put the lid back on and stick pretty pictures to it and change them on a daily basis. Heather P (163)
65284 2002-07-26 00:17:00 Actually i was thinking of putting the side on and taking to it with a can of black spray, then i could take the side off, so i can look at the cables again. A friend did the same to his monitor, it looks so much better than beige. Chris Wilson (431)
65285 2002-07-26 00:29:00 My daughter painted her keyboard and stuck pictures of eyes (and the odd feather) to the surroundings of her monitor.

Creative but weird.

65286 2002-07-26 00:54:00 Nice one! feathers! yeah.......

What i'm waiting to see is a corner at a geek expo dedicated to the weirdest or most creative custom case. If we are going to live with the things, the may as well fit our life styles and decor.
Lets face it, visually intels latest chip or whatever bleeding edge technology people may wish to display is boring. I mean black with a heartsick..... *yawn* Now custom cases.. i might even be able to get my son interested in being dragged to that!

65287 2002-07-26 01:08:00 Husband into motorbikes. He was chuckling away the other night over a site with custom painted ones. Some boys only, others quite funny. He called our daughter for the women's version - handlebars attached to a vacuum cleaner...

Jenny is off looking at a new bike today. Wonder if she'll take her Dad's suggestion....

65288 2002-07-26 01:21:00 Motorbikes, eh? Send him here (www6.tomshardware.com) then.

I was about to put a call out for JZep to go and look. Let's hope she reads this thread.

65289 2002-07-26 01:23:00 Well I've allways wanted a case with flames on it. Im a hotrod fan. I'll put flames on anything - have so far done a letterbox, my son's go cart and my poxy little old Nissan Sunny. I even put a big huge Evo wing on the back just for a laff!
:^O

65290 2002-07-26 01:27:00 Susan, NO!

Have consideration for the budget please (the new bike recently dented it severly!)

65291 2002-07-26 01:54:00 Something else, really different way to build a case is here (www.themattshack.com). Don't ask me what the rest of the site is about. Elwin Way (229)
