2002-07-25 10:32:00 | We'll have to ask Billy about aluminium and monitors but hubby says aluminium is good for keeping the beggars cooler than steel does. You've got me going now Jen; who wants to help me fill up a container of these things? :D *Susan B runs off to find the currency converter for Canadian dollars*

2002-07-25 10:38:00 | Hey, it's not bad! Not like the USD. $Can114.75 is $NZ156.20 approx. Got to add the PSU though. But that one at Computer thingy today was $199 for the case and PSU. Hmm.....

2002-07-25 10:45:00 | Well have a look at this (forums.overclockers.co.nz). I reckon that modded cases are really good. I know of someone with a chrome plated case ;) I just prefer performance to asthetics, though a combination of the two is good.

2002-07-25 10:54:00 | Are overclockers united aware that the melting point of acrylic is 130 deg C? That's playing with fire for sure! :D | Jen C (20) | |
2002-07-25 11:00:00 | Hi all. Aluminium is fine for computer cases Susan, but cost aside, it is very easy to damage. I see that www.coolcases.co.nz advertise in PCW and maybe they can provide the X factor jaded nerds and foxy ladies are looking for. Horses for courses (cases for bases?) of course one person's nerdity is another's normality. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2002-07-25 11:40:00 | Funny you guys should bring this up....I'm in the process of a case modding adventure that I'm writing up as a four part DIY series in PCWorld. I'm also secure enough in my sexuality to admit to wanting to do it for purely aesthetic reasons. mmmmmmmmmm blue neon lighting.......

2002-07-25 12:15:00 | ok several things here - case mods are way cool and a few shops will do them for you as will some panelbeaters. the lighting can be easy enough. either the gear that is imported here or use credit card and shop on the web. i love some of the cool case people are makeing but there are 1 or 2 drawbacks. having clear sides lessens the amount of sheilding a case has. a metal case is there to help stop any rf emmisions which can affect tv reception and functioning of other devices. front i/o optoins is werid. i love to have front usb ports etc but so few cases here have them. i was looking for one a while ago and do you think i could find one! most pc builders go the cheapest case that looks good which means the cases with front i/o ports are not imported as they are not sold in great numbers which is because they are not imported. get the idea?
