65737 2002-07-26 09:47:00 My mother has been having problems with her modem "USB V90" and after a lot of messing about I have found in her Network Connections 'Xtra Disconnected, Firewalled USB V90 Modem" How do I un firewall it or just fix it for her, she is running XP.
Thanks in anticipation.

65738 2002-07-26 10:16:00 goto network neighborhood, select network connections, right click on dial up that you are using for the connection, select properties, advanced, untick top box for firewall. godfather (25)

That got rid of that problem, but it still wont go......
Im now wondering if it is in the wrong COM port?
It says it is in [COM3] But We only have two COM ports.
Aer USB and COM ports the same thing? Sorry for being dumb.
It is an external modem.
I have tryed uninstaling and reinstaling it again but no go. Was working ok, but I have a sneeky feeling the grand child messed with it!

65740 2002-07-26 12:38:00 The USB modem will emulate a virual com port, USB isnt a com port.
The CPU emulates all modem functions for these modems, usually they are not "hardware modems". Accordingly anything that can upset the interrupts or IRQ can cause erratic behavior.

When you uninstall it, unplug it, restart the PC, does it find it and install it OK?
Can you then find it in control panel-system-hardware-device manager (expand the various devices to see)?

I tried to download new drivers ( a bit tricky to find) but it said something about not for XP. It has been working ok for the last 6 months tho.
