65469 2002-07-26 10:06:00 Once a network comes into play the data is sent in TCP/IP packet (or what ever protocol) so it doesn't matter what file system is being used. You can even get files from apples.

Just as a thought. If you've got 2 harddrives one with FAT32 and the other NTFS. If you run an FTP server and FTP into yourself. Could you then get data off the NTFS through windows 9x.

65470 2002-07-27 12:46:00 If the FTP server is being run on the OS which can see NTFS otherwise no. I take the 2 hdds as in 1 pc? boom23 (176)
65471 2002-07-27 12:50:00 That didn't make sense. I mean yes if the FTP server is on the OS that can see NTFS. boom23 (176)

if the harddrives are in the same PC, then you will need 2k or XP to be running to read the NTFS drive. As tweak'e said earlier, the OS reads the drive, then sends the info through the network - therefore if the OS isn't running, then it'd be your win9x trying to read the NTFS drive directly again, which doesn't work, cause 9x doesn't recognise NTFS drives.

65474 2002-07-28 04:00:00 Yes, you would need to be running both OSs, one with the FTP server, the other with the FTP client. I don't think there's a "mutibooting" option for "ALL". ]:) Graham L (2)

I wonder how hard it'd be to actually do it though ?:|
