| 66150 | 2002-07-28 01:10:00 | Over recent weeks, I have noticed my dialup connection to Xtra has slowly decreased in speed. I have a 56K modem on a 6 month old Windows XP pc, and it used to connect at around 48-52 KB, but now it connects at 35-45 KB, and right now its connected at 42.6 KB. This makes my internet surfing untolerably slow. I did enable the firewall mentioned on pg 92 of the June PC World,and thought this might be impacting on things, but I disconnected it yesterday, and there is no change. Is there anything I can do to rectify this, or am I at the mercy of forces beyond my control? | Dale (1235) | ||
| 66151 | 2002-07-28 02:41:00 | i think ur at the mercy of forces beyond ur control, many xtra customers have been having the same problem. it must have been due to the heavy usage by the adsl members of xtra. they use peer2peer software heavily and play games like counter strike with good pings and download many game files. they r the problem. cheers, v.K------------- :D |
