66109 2002-07-28 03:26:00 pioneer make some of the best dvd drives (guess what i have ;-))

if the drive is locked then you won't ba able to flash it and flashing a drive risks killing it and voids the warranty.

once the drive is made region free its just a matter of useing programs to defeat the software region selection in the dvd player program.

seeing your drive is now locked you can try to see if the nz agents will take it back but i doubt it or go buy new drive.

in future read the manual FIRST and/or flash the drive before use (voids warranty remember).

this is why i always check to see how to bypass the region codeing before buying. some drives its just a matter of fitting a jumber BEFORE you use it.

66110 2002-07-28 04:23:00 Indeed the manual on the disc said that 5 changes were permitted, but when the bundled software says that a 5th change can still be made, while the hardware (drive) has clocked up 5 changes already, then the software is telling porkies and I had to have a PC tech come in to tell me that the drive itself had recorded 5 changes even though the accompanying software only recorded 4. jlbooth (1232)
66111 2002-07-28 05:28:00 proberly what happened is a dvd was inserted (drive recorded a change) then removed without the dvd software running (so the software DOSN'T record a change). tweak'e (174)
