| 65820 | 2002-07-26 23:05:00 | is it just me, or are others getting annoyed with folks bumping their threads to the top of the page? I mean, generally if nobody has replied to your post its because nobody really knows the answer - its not that it hasn't been seen. Everytime you just bump an old post to the top, you're just pushing everyone else's new posts further down, and sooner or later everyone is just going to bump bump regularly to keep their post on top, and its really just going to make this site a mess of old unanswered questions. Mike. |

People just need to keep the bumping in moderation and everything should be fine with me. | Naraku Kasai (1028) | ||
| 65822 | 2002-07-27 01:05:00 | Ok, Im going to bump your posting to the top Mike :) I think if the bump is like at 2 weeks intervals, and the question is eminently sensible, like a posting not far away from this one, then surely there cant be any objection? After all, someone is bound to came along with an answer eventually as seems to have happened. I cant really see a problem here as long as its not abused and overdone. After all, we have lots of postings that are really just repartee which get pushed to the top continuously, I dont object to those either. |

| 65824 | 2002-07-27 07:47:00 | I have yet to see the new threads end up a page away. I feel that bumping is OK in the case of getting the news up the top to make it easier for people to spot. But bumping your own posting for others to see it is not right. |
