66230 2002-07-28 10:39:00 I have random tmp files appearing in my windows directory, they all have long coded names such as fffe80f5_{1557D2C8-4137-4E23-A16A-38BF1B13732D}.tmp
they are all 0 bytes long

Does anyone know how i can find out what prog is doing this?

p.s. my temp directories are pointed at c:\windows\temp, and most stuff goes there bar these files

what does the machine debuger do anyway?
also i have loadpowerprofile loading up twice, have any idea why that may have happened? should i just remove one?

66233 2002-07-28 11:33:00 I had this problem some time ago. My last reinstall of Windows cured it but you can disable MDM in the start up as stated by Tweak'e as a workaround. If you're interested in the technical details of the problem see this page:
OFF2000: Files Whose Name Begins with "fff" Appear in Windows Folder (support.microsoft.com)
Also:
OFF: How to Turn Off Machine Debug Manager, Mdm.exe (support.microsoft.com) might be helpful.

66234 2002-07-29 05:13:00 roofus, don't touch the extra loadpowerprofile, they are both definitely needed.

One is for when the PC is booting up and the other for when it is booted up, or something like that.

Just leave then both there.
