66222 2002-07-28 08:46:00 Hi, all.

Got some wonderful help from several of you a couple months back, so wondered if you might be able to do the same, now.

I've got a Tosh Satellite 2540XCDT. A friend of mine reformatted the HDD a few months back, but used a Win CD because the one that came bundled with the laptop was a Win98 first edition, and he wanted to save me time with uploading the security patches, etc. Now, I have to go on the road with an old (ie, dinosaur) video projector, which doesn't seem to like my display settings--it cuts off the bottom of the screen.

A friend of mine said it's probably because I only have the Win default display settings, and not drivers that are specific to this model of Tosh. I've looked @ Toshiba.com and also on Google for drivers, come up with a couple of not-too-well documented/described drivers on <network-drivers.com>, but nothing much else.

I totally *do not* have time to reformat my HD again before I go on the road (working with a non-profit educational institution, btw), but I can't figure out how else to get the right drivers loaded, without a bit of advice about just what might be needed.

Any suggestions?

Heaps thanks,

Jandy

66223 2002-07-28 08:57:00 i had a toshiba satelite as well, all the drivers & software that came preinstalled on ur laptop is stored on the toshiba recovery cd, even the drivers for the display, but go to the (i think) like the 100th page in the toshiba manual and it will list the site for the drivers, go there and download.

cheers,
v.K------------ :D (my laptop was knicked from my office, breakin in christmas last year)

66224 2002-07-28 09:00:00 look here, all the Toshiba drivers (including yours) are available.

www.video-drivers.com

I am curious how you searched, as a search of google using 2540XCDT drivers as the string produced bucketloads

66225 2002-07-28 09:07:00 Yeah, VK, I've got the recovery CDs, but a bit wary about using them as I've been told if I try that it'll reformat the HD. There are two CDs, one large file on each of them, so don't know how I can get at the drivers short of booting up with them--hence, extracting the setup program, etc. Jandy (1240)

66227 2002-07-28 09:42:00 load up the cd, then i think hold down shift so it won't autoload, u explored the cds right? i'm am very sure that the recovry cds have drivers, check both but don't try reformat (yet). i'll check toshiba's other sites and get back to u.

66228 2002-07-28 09:49:00 hate to tell u this but older satelite models like urs have been discontinued, but there is still support for them, i went to toshiba's australia/Nz site and there are heap of drivers and patches there for ur model, click here (203.56.127.6) to go there and look around. hope that helped.

cheers,

66229 2002-07-28 09:56:00 u said ur friend gave u a win Cd wot OS wos it, cos maybe that cd loaded genric drivers, if u can't find the driver, only one thing left to do = reformat, everything will be back to normal after that. (use toshiba recovery Cds) but that is only the final resort.

cheers,
