66307 2002-07-29 08:02:00 I'm too lazy to procrastinate.

Actually procrastination can be good. Procrastinating does not mean that you are sitting around getting nothing achieved.

Procrastinating is putting off something to do something that is more enjoyable. Like getting your maths homework done because it is better that english.

Do a Google (http://www.google.com) for constructive procrastination

66309 2002-07-29 08:35:00 JM: You are the King of all procrastinators.

Do you mean to tell me they make you study maths and English at that computer college of yours? :O

godfather: er... you were the one who correctly answered that quiz, not me. ;-)

66310 2002-07-29 08:38:00 But you have no worries about me now anyway, as I see you have done the FAQ.

Very Good! You deserve a chocolate fish for that:

have a look at the website (http://www.ict.school.nz). We didn't do english as such. We did business english and technical writing.

Bursary calculus and economics are also taught as they are good skills to have business wise and for programming. But also so that it goes towards university entrance.

I'd already done Year 13 (7th Form for the young at heart ;)) last year. So I'm not doing economics because I've already got that. But I'm doing calculus so that I can better my score from last year.

66312 2002-07-29 09:28:00 Sami,

If the psychopath and psychopath baiter had looked at your post instead of getting stuck into each other they may have noticed something...

I see you have the Windows login screen come up. Do you actually need it? If it just gets in the way it is possible to get rid of it.

First, make sure it is the Windows login rather than the Client for Microsoft Networks is selected:

Start; Settings; Control Panel; Network - look under Primary Network Login and see that it is set for Windows Login.

Then, click Start; Find and search for ".pwl". These password files should be located in the C:\Windows directory (not 100% sure of exact location because I got rid of them all and can't check). Delete these .pwl files.

Restart

When the login screen comes up it asks for a new password. If you hit cancel at this point it it's gone for good.

I run a home network and have got rid of the login. It is only needed if you run a network and share files that depend on passwords.

66313 2002-07-29 10:45:00 Ouch Heather! :-( We did look at Sami's post and since he reported a satisfactory result, couldn't see any reason not to play . . .

Somewhere there Sami said he got rid of that login screen . . . where was it . . . ah:

"I had been hitting cancel when I should have hit OK without inserting a password"

And godfather has posted his FAQ in which the directions for this are plainly stated .

So . Put that stick away! :p

Hmm, maybe it would be a good idea to tack that tip about deleting the . pwl files onto godfather's FAQ, if godfather agrees?

66314 2002-07-29 10:51:00 Stick? What stick? Personally I thought the item in question was shaped more like a wooden spoon... Heather P (163)
66315 2002-07-29 19:04:00 Thanks Heather for your comments. Everything is working well at the moment, so somewhere along the line I must have done the right thing. Just one question, there are a number of sites that I like to log into automatically - that is, by saving the username and password. I thought that the .pwl files facilitated this function? Or are they simply related to local networking - in which case I'll zap them.

Often when one hits such a problem it's because the last time it happened was months or even years back and one tends to forget the steps to resolution. That's where techies have the advantaged they field the same dumb questions everyday. So, I have printed all the responses on this one for my file.

Many thanks...
