66251 2002-07-28 12:50:00 The correct question is:

Does Linux support the following modems :D

As far as I know, the Motorolla is a generic modem type.

Not sure about the others. (Pragmatic = problems)

There is ongoing development towards getting Linux to run Winmodems, last time I looked, most drivers were in beta development.

66253 2002-07-29 05:37:00 have you checked your distro's website?
that's probably your best bet in finding out what IS compatible instead of what is REPORTED to be compatible.....
to save headaches I got myself a dynalink external serial modem...

66254 2002-07-29 06:08:00 Hi,

Thanks guys, the one on the MB is a PCTel chipset, for which there are drivers. I'll use that. The motherboard - despite being integrated - does perform amazingly well, so it'd be my best option.

I'm trying to design a system which can be sold for under $1000. I'm $61 out so far!

Thanks for your help,

Erin

66255 2002-07-29 11:44:00 out of interest, what are the specs that you've got on that system?
are you a retailer?

66256 2002-07-29 11:54:00 There are drivers for rockwell/connexant ones at www.mbsi.ca there are also some offical ones for the HSF at connexant but they are just older versions from mbsi.

The linmodem site doesn't seem to have been updated in a while.
