66774 2002-07-30 09:07:00 Hi
Does anyone know if you can run xcopy32 under c:\ only
eg if you boot with a start up disk or restart in m$dos.
I want to be able to copy a cloned drive from a non bootable partition to a bootable partition if my bootable partition files get corrupted.

I have on my primary partition on my master hdd win98se and I have cloned it using the follwing to another partition which would not be bootable xcopy /h/e/c/k/r/y c: i: This works fine when you can get into GUI windows front but I can not get it to run under straight M$dos

I normally have my slave hdd to do this as I can boot from either disk from a bios switch but I want to put Linux on my slave hdd so i can boot into either OS.

Basically I want to xcopy but keep long file names under Msdos only.
Does anybody know the syntax ??
I looked online for this but all suggest doing this from GUI windows which I already know how to do..
Thanks and cheers..

66778 2002-07-30 10:18:00 if you use a boot disk, xcopy likely wont run due to the fact that it cant be found. Make sure there is a copy of xcopy.exe in c:\ or set the PATH up.

xcopy under dos will have some issues with lfn. It has some issues under gui, as in it will refuse to resolve some filenames if directly referencing them, but is ok if referencing the actual directory with the /s flag set.

face it, it wasn't built for it!
