66716 2002-07-30 06:53:00 Hi,
am forced (long story) to upgrade my machine for the sole purpose of playing "IL2 Sturmovick", a combat type flight sim, with a min requirement of 1 GHz processor, 256 Mb Ram, and either a GeForce2 32 Mb, or a Geforce3 3D accelerator video card. I am told the game is also sound intensive.
I already have a nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64 Video card, ( cannot afford A new vidoe card as well, that will come in future months) which I wish to put in the following motherboard.
Will this give me a good system for the above game?, or are there alternitve sugestions?
Thanks for your time and input,
Regards Ron

66717 2002-07-30 08:33:00 It's highly likely that your graphics card will render any other upgrade a waste of time...
What is your present system like?

66718 2002-07-30 09:03:00 agree with biff here. the TNT2 m64 will not handle it. pointless upgradeing. wait untill you can afford better graphics card.

you can also get away with 256 ram instead of 512.

don't forget you will need a 300+watt powersupply and a decent case.

66719 2002-07-30 10:07:00 I was the proud owner of a Macrocom Comp, whose powerpack gave up the ghost and pumped 240 volts through the system ZAP! absolutley everthing (bar the video card) busted. (and now you say it's crap! LOL) Oh the joy of it! So I suppose apart from the monitor keyboard etc.. it's a new machine. i do have the use of a borrowed floppy, hard drive and cd rom, which I will need to replace in time also. I wont be overclocking etc.. as this stuff is over my head. M8s_Kiwi (1266)
