66940 2002-07-31 04:34:00 I am looking to buy a webcam to go with my new computer that I am getting..its a WIN XP computer...256mb ram, 80gb hard drive 7200rpm speed...
But I dont know which one to get..a logitech one for $200+ or just a basic one for $99..
I'd be using it for Windows Netmeeting/Yahoo Messenger (if thats compatiable on xp) AND for photos if its abled to be used..
I'd not mind if its got to stay connected to the computer for full usage or if it can be taken outside or down the road and being used then return to computer to "upload"

Any recommendations?

ALSO what does everyone think of a USB Drive that is like the size of a keyring..that takes up 16mb..
its like a cd but smaller and connects onto a USB...thought it mite be handy for Course usage/home..transferring big files that are 2 big for emails...I know the floppys can be a idea but I like being more "modern"

66941 2002-07-31 06:21:00 Hi csinclair83, well my recommendation would be purely from personal use - I have a Intel CS630 - you can use it for all of the things you have stated, is simple and easy to use, usb connection, it looks like a normal camera a bit and you just disconnect it and take it with you to take photos and you can also take video clips (only like 20second clips though) with it too then just plug it back in and download the pics or vid clips. Its a web cam too of course, so pretty much covers what you want. As for price - well i got it as a package deal with my puter about 8 months back so only paid about $200 for it but have been told they are normally about $400?? So you would have to check that out. But it is Xp compatible. Hth. :-) J ZEP (336)
66942 2002-07-31 21:44:00 Hello Chris....what you need to do is just look in the DSE mag and see what your personal preference is compared to what they have there at Dick Smith..........what "tickles your fancy" is what you should take ;)

So yeah
