Linux handles them differently, so that's irrelevant :) Have you made sure there's a gap of at least one PCI slot between the two cards - this may make a difference to you.

Mike,

They are not cats or children. Telling them to sit in opposite corners and not to talk to each other under any circumstances may not work.

It's been known to in the past :)

67231 2002-08-02 04:35:00 With children yes.

Put 2 quarrelling bored children in chairs back to back, tell them that it's time they learnt to be REALLY bored and that they are not to talk to or touch each other. It doesn't take too many minutes before they start uniting against mum and vanish to play happily.

But cards???

believe me, it's worked in the past. Don't ask me to get into the technicalities of it (cause I wouldn't have a clue why LOL), but it's worked before, and it may work again :)

67233 2002-08-02 05:14:00 Sounds like 2 PCI sockets sharing the same PCI driver.... or a faulty socket Heather P (163)
67234 2002-08-03 06:30:00 try disableing ths SB16 emulation (or click 'allow lpt sharing') and then install the other card. tweak'e (174)

They are not sharing any IRQ's, I have tried many combinations as to the PCI slots (including having the ethernet card before the SB) none of this has made any difference, I have not tried disabling just SB16 emulation (will try), if this works what will I be loosing by disabling this?

Thanks.

67236 2002-08-04 04:10:00 disabling just SB16 emulation will just disable any sound in dos mode ie if you play any old dos games the sound won't work. try it first if that fixes your prob. tweak'e (174)
