| 66933 | 2002-07-31 02:33:00 | Hi, i have been using windows XP pro on my laptop, and everything is fine, bar one thing. i cannot get some older games to run. i can use Doom 2 normally, but it won't play IPX network (i have installed the protocol, but it still won't detect ipx). also one version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe wouldn't open, as it said it couldn't open com2 port, and it said "ignore" or close. if you went ignore it came up with the same message but with cannot open com4 either way the program wouldn't run. In a later version of TTD (the win95 one, not dos) it installed fine, but when you went to run it, it came up with an error saying "cannot initialize registry" or something like that, yet there were registry entries for the game. can anyone help? other, newer games like NFS3, Red Faction, and Unreal Tournament run fine, just a few oldies (and goodies) that i am having trouble with!
