2002-08-02 05:09:00 | Is it possible to set up some kind of application server to run games over a network using only one CD? :D I'll not give specs on anything, as I don't want that to limit any answers here. Mike.

2002-08-02 05:52:00 | You could make an image of the CD on the HDD, use something like Nero DriveImage - Download the Nero Burning ROM demo from www.ahead.de and then open up nero and make an image of the disc. Then install DriveImage (Included in the demo - free!!!) and set it to use that CD. | Chilling_Silence (9) | |

If we've got say 32 machines connected to the network, and an application server serving the game CD, can it be run, and how? Mike. |

2002-08-02 06:08:00 | Since your games won't be licenced for network use (as in multi-seat office applications), all you need to do is have the drive available as a network drive. Then you just install normally on *each* computer with the CD on the remote drive. If you have enough disk space to do that CD imaging trick, just the same thing. A CD is just a disk. It can be anywhere on the network, but it needs to be installed on each computer which will use it.

2002-08-02 06:10:00 | P.S. Of course if you've got 32 playing the game at one time, the response time could be a bit s-l-o-o-o-o-o-o-w. :D | Graham L (2) | |
2002-08-02 06:15:00 | A good way (saves 32 CDRs) is to create images of the CD and then use Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.com/) to mount the images as virtual CDs. | -=JM=- (16) | |
