I'm a little stumped as to your question... you can't get messages offline in ICQ - you need to be online to receive messages. Or am I missing something here?

67442 2002-08-02 01:32:00 Nahh .. Mike ..
If I send someone a message wen they are offline .. ICQ tells me .. *user is offline .. but will receive this message wen they go online* ..
and the same goes for someone sending me a message .. also SMS ..
.. but .. Im not getting the messages that are sent to my ICQ wen im offline .. like .. wen i go back online .. LOL ..

67443 2002-08-02 01:55:00 I have ICQ, and if someone sends me a message when I am not connected to the internet, I get the message they have sent me when I next go online and connect to ICQ

This is just standard with ICQ - I don't think there is anywhere you can go to enable/disable it. If you are not getting any messages, obviously no-one is sending you any.

I have searched high and low for you on ICQ, and can't find anything else about it. Maybe someone else will know more

67444 2002-08-02 04:54:00 I would have to agree with Baldy - if your offline, you will get them when you go back on and i don't think its to do with turning anything on it just happens!!! J ZEP (336)
67445 2002-08-03 03:53:00 OK lads .. now yer all so wonderful .. but last night I asked a friend to message me today when I was offline .. and he emailed me at the same time telling me he had messaged me on ICQ at midday today .. I have gone online and there is NO message .. So whats happening ?? lovelee (1294)
67446 2002-08-03 05:18:00 The consensus of opinion from a Google search suggests that the problem is with the ICQ server due to heavy useage, and that it's better to use email instead for offline messages.

67448 2002-08-03 05:45:00 Hi. Reinstallation is always a good option. If you reinstall over the top of your existing you shouldn't lose any info, such as buddy lists etc. Of course do the recommended list backup as a matter of course.

You haven't said how recent the problem is nor what stuff you've done since it last worked correctly, which may give a clue. Also remember that latest version of ICQ is actually quite buggy, and a reinstalation has cured problems for at least two people I know.

67449 2002-08-03 05:46:00 I support Terry, and in any case IF they were on the server you would get them. Your settings would not influence the server.

Another FAQ re ICQ

"Why am I not receiving offline messages?

Not receiving messages that were composed and sent to you while you were offline OR others not receiving messages composed by you while they were offline has been a consistent and periodic situation through all versions of ICQ. Server upgrades and equipment changes on ICQ's side is usually responsible. Because it is on the ICQ server side there is nothing you can do about it. It is not a settings issue on your side. You should find that in time, your offline messaging capabilities will return. If your messages are critical, then ensure you are both online for the procedure. If not, use the old reliable.. email. "

I note some companies in europe are offering special software for their customers to allow off-line messages to be received.
