67417 2002-08-01 20:36:00 Hi

I have just upgraded to Win XP and thanks to this board I have fixed a few problems. When I put a CD in the CDROM drive I can check the contents in Explorer. However if I take out the first CD and put in a different data CD, Explorer still shows the original CDs contents. I try refreshing and closing Explorer and restarting it but to no avail.

Can someone please help.

I know the problem, and *think* its to do with the driver, you should try updating it with a new one from the makers site, for XP.

Also see if BIOS has recognised the drive, I think this is also a contributor.

The contents are being cached and not refreshing.

Basically what happens is if I put a CD in it'll show all the details fine. Then if I take that one out and put a new one in it shows all of the details of the previous one. However if in between taking the first one out and the second one in I click on the D Drive (my CDROM) in the folder list I will get the message saying 'Please insert CD' , I then put the 2nd CD in and it will read the contents and then produce them in the main window. However in the Folder list on the left hand side it will still say the first CDs contents.

I don't know who made the CDROM but I have tried the update drivers for it by the internet function in Win XP and it tells me I am using the latest as it is...

Go to My Computer, right-click on the CD ROM in the listing, select properties, hardware and read the type of drive. If no type is given, then thats part of the problem. If it is, google search it and get the drivers.
The maker and model will be on the drive case as well, but this is easier.

Also, is it in the BIOS???
