67365 2002-08-01 10:16:00 Here's the problem. I wish to turn the pictures on my website into "thumb nail" size and make it happen that when you click on them, they will open up in a decent size and in a separate window. That way I can hopefully save space on my isp server. How do you program this, or is there a piece of software that does it for you?

I'm using Platypus Web Page Creation Software and Bullet Proof uploading Software. Windows ME on a P3 1000.

having thumbnails that open full-size pics won't save you any space on your server. the full-size pics will be the normal file-size... opening a thumbnail pic to be a lot bigger will just give a distorted picture.

There are programs around though that'll set up thumbnails etc. for webpages... There's one called Thotor which I think you could probably pick up from www.downloads.com

67367 2002-08-01 11:37:00 It has always been my understanding that thumbnails and full-size graphics are two separate items. By that I mean there is a thumbnail pic and a corresponding full-size pic of the same graphic. Clicking on the thumbnail takes browsers to the full-size one.

Therefore you are not saving space on your ISP server, you are actually reducing it. Not by a lot though, unless you have many graphics.

67368 2002-08-01 11:54:00 Instead of inserting an image, you insert a link, with the image as the link and the target. Make the link a size that you want for your thumbnail eg:

<a href="images/pic01.jpg" src="images/pic01.jpg" height=100 width=100 target=_blank>

This will 1- create a shortcut to pic01.jpg then 2- use pic01.jpg as the link 3- resize pic01.jpg down to 100 x 100 pixels. Clicking on the resulting image will open it up full size in a new window.

Replace images/pic01.pg with your own directory (folder) and images.
