67322 2002-08-01 05:59:00 Is there any way to have a footer appear on all word documents I make which automatically updates - eg. current filename, current date, and page x of y? Cheers denise (1155)
67323 2002-08-01 06:03:00 Find your "normal.dot" template file and open it in word.

Put your footer in with all required features, save and close.

I *think* that will set it as your default for all documents you create.

67324 2002-08-01 06:10:00 I don't want to actually try it as it will mess up my default, but if you open a new document, add all the bits you want in the footer then go to File>Page Setup and click on Default.

That may or may not work. If it doesn't, use godfather's method.

67325 2002-08-01 06:14:00 If after clicking "default" you are asked (when closing Word) if you want to save changes to the global template, say Yes, as it will write them to the "normal.dot" then. Some things update it, some don't.

Good thinking Susan, see you dont need that 40" plasma screen after all...
