67992 2002-08-04 05:20:00 I've just completed a clean re-install of win98 second edition, but now when ever I start up, the standard "enter windows password" dialogue box comes up. Personally I don't want to have a password so I naturally click cancel, assuming that will be the end of that. But whenever I restart, the password box still comes up despite "if you don't want a password, do not enter one and this box will not appear again".

The box also appears occasionally when my dial-up completes the "logging onto network" stage.

Change from Windows Network Login to Windows Login
On next restart you will be prompted for a password - hit cancel.

It's should be gone.

If it still comes up you will have passwords there - .pwl files in the (I think) Windows folder. Delete them.

This often causes problems.
