67761 2002-08-03 06:19:00 I have looked and looked, and maybe missed the obvious, but does this scanner support multiple page scans or not? If so, how? Any info appreciated.

Phil Burt.

67762 2002-08-03 06:26:00 Nothing to do with the scanner per se, but with the program you are using to access it with. As its TWAIN compliant it could be accessed by many applications

What is the name and version number of the application are you using?

If using the supplied software, it is certainly advertised as such..."Scans directly to your e-mail or fax applications--you can even add a multi-page document as a single attachment " but perhaps varies by version, often bundled applications are stripped down.

67763 2002-08-03 06:44:00 Thanks for the fast reply. Am using HP Precision Scan 3.01. Not long updated for XP. Should I try acquiring documents directly through Word or similar?

67764 2002-08-03 06:58:00 Probably, not sure what you are trying to do...

If you acquire direct, you will miss out on OCR and only get a picture.

Mind you, I have come to the conclusion that OCR is often not worth it, quicker to retype the text. Depends a lot on the font/quality.

I had an old Dexxa scanner (windows 3.1 vintage) that had software that would multipage, but new software (just updated for XP also) for my HP PSC750 seemingly has no facility for multipage. Each OCR scan loads a new page in Word, bur copy/paste is only 5 seconds so its not anything I would even try to fix.

It could be that the rewrite for XP left it out.

If its only images, then I never use the supplied software, I scan straight into an image editor and reset compression etc, as otherwise the documents get too big in filesize.

67765 2002-08-03 07:14:00 OCR is brilliant on this scanner. Will even copy magzine type layouts with text correctly boxed and graphics perfectly positioned. All fully editable in word. I do a lot of OCR but this particular programme or product just seems to want me to do it one page at a time. Guess I will just have to live with it. Thanks for the replies.
