2002-08-04 12:39:00 | So what you're saying is, not only did your spell go wrog, it also crashed PressF1 as well as taking out Aucklands power, and now you're trying to blame it on Mike, who is wondering what the hell he did and trying to figure it out by doing it again??? Geeze, I dunno! :p :^O

2002-08-04 22:01:00 | Well Elwin, the art of transparent blame referral (without leaving cookies) is something I have yet to master . Of course I am not alone, as I see your spell went wrog too! :^O I know what went wrong with my spell though, I left off one of the most important parameters and it defaulted to 7 instead of 15 . I might have invoked it a trifle too early as well . If I'd left it later the 7 would have returned "team not found" and ramped up to the 15's which would have been the only valid directory at that stage of the play . On reflection, if I had included %referee% in the invocation command I might have mopped up variables for both 7 and 15 so there you are . Next time I'll leave it to Merlin . Cheers Billy 8-{) :D :D PS Why does the percentage symbol always change to 96 on this forum?:| e . g . % % %, but not if bolded % % % . I thought it was my eyes playing tricks but I took a closer look and on my screen at least, they are 96's .

2002-08-05 03:54:00 | Billy's 96: With Internet IE, changing the View/Text Size selection can cause this apparent problem. "Medium" makes % look very much like "96" but it is still "%". It probably depends on screen resolution and the number of pixels in each character. Wouldn't happen on a Teletype. Dot matrix characters are funny. | Graham L (2) | |
2002-08-05 05:45:00 | hehe that would be correct Graham. I must remember that.

2002-08-05 08:12:00 | Sorry Graham, That's not the answer, examining the screen with a magnifying glass show that there is a distinct 9 & 6 involved. I'm too long in the tooth to be fooled by optical illusions. What I want to know is whether it is just my computer or whether it affects others. ("17 screen, good sharp focus, no brandy) Cheers Billy 8-{)

2002-08-06 01:02:00 | PressF1 is on a different server to the other IDG sites, so this is why they were working and PressF1 wasn't. :-) | Mary H (769) | |
2002-08-06 04:06:00 | Billy: With "96", and "%" side by side, like this "96%", can you see a difference? The actual "9" and "6" are bigger than the apparent ones. I've just found (with preview) that I can't get the syndrome on this WinCE Terminal, but I've often seen it, and reproduced it before I posted yesterday. | Graham L (2) | |
