67928 2002-08-03 21:31:00 Hi could some kind person do me a favor please,
Go in to regedit

have a look at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
then
Mailto
and tell me what the entries are

so I can restore my "mailto" from my brower.

Thanks and sorry I am a pan in the neck.

67930 2002-08-03 21:54:00 I exported my mailto, opened it in Notepad and here are my results:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]
@="URL:MailTo Protocol"
"EditFlags"=hex:02,00,00,00
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\url.dll,2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell]
@=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open]
"EditFlags"=hex:01,00,00,00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Outlook Express\\Msimn.exe\" /mailurl:%1"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\QuickView]
@="*"

I actually have Win98 not Win98SE so I don't know if they would be different.

67931 2002-08-03 23:50:00 Thanks Susan

If I was at a web site and wished to send Email, browser windows would keep opening until the memory was used up.

I did a "fixup" from control panel (add/remove programs) that did not work, after looking at your reply I tried a reinstall from August NZ PC world magazine CDrom and that fixed it.
Just for the record here is mine;
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]
@="URL:MailTo Protocol"
"EditFlags"=hex:02,00,00,00
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\\MSIMN.EXE,-2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\\MSIMN.EXE\" /mailurl:%1"

I was not sure what a '@' was, I have printed it out and made notes so I know next time

67932 2002-08-04 04:52:00 Is that your key before you fixed it or after you fixed it? It's quite different to mine, isn't it? Susan B (19)
67933 2002-08-04 06:05:00 I tried to fix it, it did not work,
I started a F1 topic, when I saw the reply and did not know what to use for "@" I thought I would try a reinstall with the latest magazine CDROM, it worked, so then I checked, and made a reply with what I found in regedit.
