| 68225 | 2002-08-05 05:06:00 | I have a Compaq Deskpro with 2 hard drives, 20g and 4g connected to the primary IDE bus. I had an HP reader and an Aopen CD writer on the secondary IDE bus. All worked well with no conflicts! I have now fitted a Liteon 16x DVD Rom drive in place of the HP reader, set to slave with the writer set to master. I boot up and device manager tells me I have an Aopen Writer and Liteon DVD installed. Great! I now select Liteon properties to update the driver from the CD that came with the DVD drive. As soon as the drive has detected the CD and the drive lights stop flashing, the computor freezes and only a hard reset will re-instate things. It seems any CD, data or DVD, produces the same result. Do I have a conflict problem or what? I have tried all combinations with the same result. I also borrowed another DVD drive and got the same result. I would really appreciate some help.
