68200 2002-08-05 02:02:00 I lost my desktop Icon for IE6 a while back, probably a family memeber....
For a while I just had a shortcut to it, but tried using TweakUI's Desktop Tab to fix it, no luck. It only put a blank icon on it.
How can I get back my origional IE Icon on my Desktop, that i can right-click on and goto Properties and it'll display the Web Properties, not icon properties.
Thanks

68201 2002-08-05 02:06:00 Try this:

IE: Tools > Internet Options > "Advanced" Tab > make sure "Show Internet Explorer on Desktop" is checked

Hope this helps :)

68202 2002-08-05 02:31:00 Hi Chilling,
I i had this same problem the other day and the way i fixed it was to go to add/remove programs click on explorer then click on add/remove. Now don't worry when you click on add/remove a message will come up and ask if you would like to repair internet explorer, tick yes. When i did this the other day the lost icon came back onto the screen "choice" i hope it works for you. cheers

68203 2002-08-05 04:07:00 If you decide to repair IE it would pay to run adaware straight after.

It seems to find registry keys that are spyware(alexa).

Many on this forum have said it does not come with IE, but the times i have repaired and run adaware always finds the alexa registry key.

What its is for, and what it does is a mystery to me.

Alexa definitely comes with IE.

A little more info on it is here (www.warp2search.net).

68205 2005-03-13 18:17:00 Hey, this is the proper, I guess is the best word to describe it, way to get the IE icon back on the desktop in XP:
"To get an icon of Internet Explorer on your desktop in Windows XP, minimize all windows, and right click where the desktop is clean. That will bring up a menu, so choose "Properties". It will bring up the "Display Properties" window. On the "Desktop" tab, click on the "Customize Desktop" button. That brings up the "Desktop Items" window. In the "General" tab, put a check in the "Internet Explorer" box. Click the "OK" button on both open windows, and it will appear on your desktop."
