| 68267 | 2002-08-05 06:14:00 | hey, my friend booted up her computer this afternoon ( Pentiurm-s, 75mhz, Win95, 2gig hd ), it sed "starting windows 95", which it proceeded to load and the splash screen came up, then it came back to dos (well not in windows) saying: "Data error reading drive c, abort, retry, fail", after abort was selected anothing screen came up saying: "A device file that is specified in the system.ini file is damaged. It may be needed to run windows. You may need to run the Windows Setup programme again to reinstall vcond press key to continue..." After finding the "any key" (lol) this came up: "vmm32.vxd, this file is not in your PATH, you may need to reinstall windows. Windows has stopped" Any ideas? She mumbled something about an attachment in her email last night which could have been a virus...it did make me laugh, "windows has stopped". Altho this isnt a laughin situation, a girls Bursary year hangs in the balance!!! :) Thx Tones |
