1284837 2012-06-30 22:22:00 Hi, I am just wondering how often do you guys use Skype on the cellphone?

I have a Nokia, upgraded to the Belle OS and Skype now does not work. Fring might work. I only use this overseas, so I either need to send it for servicing to backdate the OS somehow or just live without it.
Grabaseat app does not work, nor does std ISP email unless I use Ovi and push it. Those require mobile data to be turned on even thou one has a perfect Wifi connection.

Cheers.

1284838 2012-06-30 22:31:00 Don't skype. Don't really see any point to it. Nick G (16709)
1284839 2012-06-30 22:36:00 I use it *only* on my phone (HTC One X running CM9). Not that often, but when I do it generally works perfectly. Erayd (23)
1284840 2012-06-30 22:41:00 I don't use it often that much at home, on PC prob just text via MSN or such or just simply email. Bit of a bummer when you are overseas without Skype, it may need to book a PC and pay for that or queue at the hostel or pay at the hotel's business centre or get a calling card and call at a phone booth :annoyed: Nomad (952)
1284841 2012-06-30 22:51:00 I suspect your main issue here is that you own a phone that almost nobody supports. The smartphone world has largely left Nokia in the dust as far as software is concerned, and Nokia isn't doing itself any favours there either. Erayd (23)
1284842 2012-07-01 00:24:00 Yeah pretty much. Nokia were always stupid with how they handled wifi vs 3g data too.

Skype works brilliantly on any semi-recent platform. That said, I use GTalk or G+ hangouts for calling instead. Much better!

We all know why MS bought it and that was because it is proprietry rather than like Ekiga which uses the SIP protocol so it is no wonder Google Talk can't call Skype users. Just off to investigate what protocol GT uses.

XMPP with some of their own extensions so I'm not sure if Ekiga can talk to GT.
