| 1285339 | 2012-07-02 11:57:00 | I joined about 1995/96 when I got my first computer. and there were two software updates that I remember. In between the first and second versions we had an off-line trial running called Candy (never did get the Candy T-Shirt we were promised, got to keep nagging about that :devil) We tried to break it but couldn't, so we hacked it instead. That was where the forerunner on Monday Laughs started. With a closed community of about 10 or so we had to find something to post so I started WFTWE (Word for the Weekend) posted on Fridays. That ran for 200 straight weeks, flowing into the new Forum when it went live with the last one posted from Dallas Texas, you couldn't break a tradition like that on the last day! Monday Laughs followed on and has run without a break for over 700 weeks now (for a number of years with help from Susan B, my long time co-conspirator, and now with the help of other members if I am away or overseas). At an hour a week, that is over a month of solid work!! To whom do I send the invoice? :D So, I guess I've been here for about 15-16 years, from questions about 286/386/486/ Pentium 75 through to the latest whiz-bang stuff that we couldn't even have dreamed of back then. Inkjet printers for $2000 when that was just about enough for a deposit on a house and would certainly buy you a decent used car. You know you are getting long in the tooth when you reminisce about 486's! Cheers Billy 8-{) :thumbs: |
