1308686 2012-10-26 02:53:00 I'm trying to execute from program files and prog files x86 and no version of exe will do anything.

Just looked at the Event Log and I can see errors for IE. Event ID 1000 (100) with faulting module ntdll.dll. Did some searching but nothing hits me in the eye.

Tried to run IE in safe mode - still no-go.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to re-install IE10?

1308687 2012-10-26 02:54:00 In case anyone is having trouble finding the link:
windows.microsoft.com

Edit: Wait a minute, that link isn't live yet.
Where did you get yours from linw?

Edit: Ok so looks like Chrome won't work with that link as it keeps jumping to the US site, use IE. :D

I got caught with that as well! Only IE seems to work.

1308688 2012-10-26 02:54:00 Just installed the version you get for $89. Went pretty smoothly. Booted from it killed Win7. Thought I'll install it by itself. To see how it goes. Just installing programs on it now. Btw, there is a MS site, which will send you a key for WMC till 31/1/2012 (it needs to be activated by then). Dont think I'll bother with the Pro Pack, since the only thing you get is the key. And nothing else for $88! Speedy Gonzales (78)
1308689 2012-10-26 03:11:00 Just tried the upgrade remotely (LogMeIn) from a box I'd built earlier this week to try Win8 out on. Turns out they just ask you and presume you're honest and truthful about when you bought your device, I just got an upgrade for a system for $19.99 :D

...not that I condone piracy of course and I'd never use this key they've just sent through, but I just thought I'd give it a try and see what happened.

Interestingly enough they also do zero checking on the validity of your existing Windows installation.

1308690 2012-10-26 03:19:00 Ooooh, nice try!!

Looks like they REALLY want us to upgrade. They certainly want to keep up the momentum as a stall now would seriously undermine their long term strategy.

1308691 2012-10-26 03:30:00 Well I guess that even at the cheap cost it prevents people using hacked up versions and things, and they've seen how a lower upgrade price-point for Apple works and pretty much *everybody* gets it, so I'm figuring they're going for the "low cost, mass adoption" rather than "Here, buy a PC with Vista and keep it running that POS for the next 10 years". 1308692 2012-10-26 04:44:00 Just ordered the copy for a mate's PC. After completing the download, I have 3 options:
1, install now
2. Install by creating media
3 Install later from your desktop

Which should I click? We don't to install now but would like to create a DVD for install late.

1308693 2012-10-26 04:53:00 OK. Got it sorted. Selected 2. Install by creating media - creates the ISO file. :) bk T (215)
1308694 2012-10-26 05:02:00 Aaaaah cool, I stopped it before I could go that far, I wonder if that means I can resume where I left off later? Chilling_Silence (9)
