| 1285564 | 2012-07-03 21:49:00 | so after spending 15 months in jail, do you think there is a compensation package in the wind? No as I suspect that will be taken into account when sentenced for all the other crap he admitted to. Personally i think he did it but the defense had a better lawyer.. No doubt the TV news media tonite will be wringing ever ounce of pathos and weeping family member they can out of it.. |

| 1285566 | 2012-07-03 22:11:00 | There could also be a retrial if the crown think he really did it and find more evidence that he did do it. I think that is what happened with the David Bain trial. :) |

Cops should do some work now and then, instead of waiting for A)confessions B)evidence to fall out of the sky +1. To me, it seems like they got him for the vandalism and arson crap, and thought that they'd be able to get him for murder as well, with no additional evidence. Doesn't mean he didn't do it, but there wasn't enough to go on. |

I couldn't believe the Police said draining the effluent ponds was too hard. They should have been the first place to look for the items you suggest, the pups and the rubber boots. |

| 1285570 | 2012-07-03 23:24:00 | Ewen MacGregor has been found not guilty story (www.stuff.co.nz). As an aside does anyone else think his lawyer looks like a grown up version of Harry Potter? Ahem - Ewen MacGregor is a well known Scottish actor - Ewen Macdonald was the defendant here. I post this not to be a smart arse, but just in case any future internet searches for Ewen MacGregor brings up your post and it starts to get around that he was once charged with murder in NZ! ;-) |
