| 1309354 | 2012-10-29 22:30:00 | My TV (Panasonic plasma about 3 years old) can't be adjusted for over scanning - tried many things but couldn't do it. Warning for those wanting to use win 8 to a TV. W8 apps won't run on mine as it says the screen res is too low. Newer true HD panels should be OK, though. So, now wondering why I bothered putting W8 on this netbook! May revert back to W7 and use the W8 elsewhere. PS I did mention I was using WMC!!! Maybe need to check your spec prescription?!!:) Mine works fine and its older than that, any apps open and display as expected. Main difference is mines a LCD, not plasma. Brought in 2003, Screen Res 1360 x 768 , and you do know under the zoom settings (with movies anyway) you can fully adjust how it looks, height, width etc. Personally haven't setup the TV yet as we are getting a new Decoder sometime this week. What type of mouse do you have, mines a logitech and in the settings you have the option to map the startmenu ( which is what you asked about) to a function/button on the mouse. Even easier than a desktop shortcut, no scripts or third party programs required. If your mouse doesn't have the option, maybe time to get one thats capable. ;) 4437 |

| 1309355 | 2012-10-30 08:27:00 | That mouse sounds good. Mine is not that fancy! I am sure I tried all the screen settings incl zoom. Just couldn't find a way to stop overscan. Some TVs have a bit-for-bit type setting which eliminates overscan but mine hasn't (Pana TH-42PV60A). My TV maxes out at 1024 x 768 which is supposed to be minimum for W8. In other words, it should work. One can get sick of trying to track problems that shouldn't be there. Not sure where W8 gets the screen res from. The netbook connects via HDMI. Thanks for suggestions. |

| 1309359 | 2012-11-22 19:10:00 | @dugimodo. Bit late but I didn't reply re 'screen res too low' error. In my case, win 8 had set my netbook screen res to a strange setting. I set it back to 1368 x 768 and that error went away. Might be same for you? | linw (53) | ||
| 1309360 | 2012-11-23 12:27:00 | I sold the netbook so no problem now, but in my case it was the lack of video drivers that was the problem. Windows defaulted to a generic driver and too low of a resolution to run any apps. | dugimodo (138) | ||
