2012-10-31 09:01:00 | It is a long time since I have used Windows 3.1 but it seemed to look familiar. | Bobh (5192) | |
2012-10-31 09:24:00 | Kind of reminds me of this :D You are so right, no start menu there either... it's come full circle... Which begs the question, why use Windows 8 when Windows 3.1 has no start menu either and runs a hell of a lot faster? :devil

2012-10-31 09:44:00 | Which begs the question, why use Windows 8 when Windows 3.1 has no start menu either and runs a hell of a lot faster? :devil Because Windows 8 supports USB, hard drives bigger than 2GB, multi-core processors, and any other hardware we use in 2012. :p | pcuser42 (130) | |
2012-10-31 21:02:00 | OK. I got my own Win8 upgrade and my brand new OCZ vertex4 SSD. Unplugged my Win 7 OS HDD (Seagate 500GB) and my data HDD Seagate 1TB just to avoid Win8 may mess up my data. Booted from the Upgrade DVD, installed Win8, all seems OK but it booted to the Desktop and couldn't Activate Windows saying that it's an invalid key. Re-installed Win8, wiped the HDD, installed as usual, went through smoothly, booted to the Start menu and Activated! -- that's great! Shut down the PC, connected my Data HDD - BIOS detected - OK. BUT ..... Win 8 windows explorer doesn't show my Data HDD - Device Manager doesn't show it, too. Could someone please enlighten me. Thanks.

2012-10-31 21:24:00 | Checked cable, swapped cables, done all that. Went in BIOS setup, Advance - checked disk drives, - all there. Save settings and exit. Still no joy.

2012-10-31 21:34:00 | Re-started the PC (about 2 times) fixed the problem. Another issue: I've created 2 user accounts. How do I log OFF and log onto the other user account?

2012-10-31 21:58:00 | Can't see anything there. One more problem: Cannot install my Hauppauge WinTV7 software, it requires .NetFramwork 2 but not able to install.

2012-10-31 22:05:00 | To remove the scond account -- On the normal desktop, press the WinKey + F4 the logon/shut down box will appear, select sign out - next log into the account you want to keep. Two ways Winkey+I , control panel is selected, open it or longer way - Move the mouse to the top or bottom right of the screen, the charms menu appears, select Setting ( looks like a cog) then select Control Panel from the top of the list, this opens the standard Windows 7 Control panel, select user accounts, Manage another account - select the account you want to remove - Delete account. Done :)
