68515 2002-08-05 22:04:00 I've got a new IBM 80GB HDD I'm about to install. I'm running XP Pro and I'll use Partition Magic 7 for the job. My question is....what would be the best size partitions to use? I'm thinking of 3 (C:5GB for the OS, D:35GB for programs, E:40GB for storage of MP3, photos etc) Is that a logical set-up? Is mr 5GB Drive C large enough?
I'm going to stay with FAT 32 as I've got a home LAN and my old computer won't run XP.
Would appreciate any advice or links to a good site for formatting/partitioning...I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing but a little extra research may help. Thanks in advance......

XP will run on 5gb, but it'd prefer 10 :)

that shouldn't matter - the other computers on your home LAN will be able to see what's on the XP PC whether its NTFS or FAT32.

68519 2002-08-13 14:01:00 I use a older KT7 Abit M/board and find them a class above the rest

- ABIT's KX7-333R, the latest in a long line of high-performance ABIT motherboards, has been declared "Editor's Choice" by AMD3D.com. "This board is perfect for those of you who just want a new motherboard but already have a good sound card, NIC etc. For the overclockers the KX7-333R is potentially a tweakers delight. SoftMenu III and high quality components promise great stability at high speeds."
