68306 2002-08-05 09:04:00 I can't connect to the jetstream network. Paradise blame telecom with lack of IP addresses. Is this likely to be it or is Paradise blowing me off? I have to have my machine dual booting as some software won't work on win XP, so I drop my IP every time. Might have to tell the kids they can't use win98, when I finally get adsl back on line. wotz (335)
68307 2002-08-05 09:28:00 Another reason it pays to have a router, not an internal ADSL modem. Never turn mine off, IP changes every few days.

I have heard paradise have an allocation problem (like not enough)

68308 2002-08-05 09:41:00 Yeah, well some of us have a budget and have to do with whatever our better half will let us spend.

Usually the modem connects to the jetstream network as soon as the pc starts up. It connects to Paradise like dial up - the first time its used -then stays on. Seeing as it won't connect to jetstream I'm not sure who is to blame. I'm gonna go into withdrawl soon. My emergency backup dial up is tooooooo expensive.

68309 2002-08-05 11:07:00 Hi Wotz, have you got dsl to the modem?.If you have the dsl showing as connected, but you still can't surf, then the problem is probably Paradise. If you have dsl and can't surf, try going to the jetstreamgames site, and logging in there. If you can log in and surf that site, but still can't surf normally, then the problem is definitly your ISP.

68310 2002-08-05 12:23:00 Hi Peter

No DSL to the modem is the trouble. Have tried everything except physically pulling it out, but can't see why that would be needed. Have tried another cable. Won't go in either win xp or 98, so is not anything changed in windows (don't think the wife could stuff up the same thing in them both)

68311 2002-08-06 03:48:00 Hi,if you have no dsl at the modem then the problem will either be the line,or the modem,or perhaps the internal wiring. It won't be the ISP as they don't supply the dsl, thats Telecom. If you loose dsl completely, get on to your ISP and get them to put you through to the adsl help desk at Telecom. They can test your line and check your connection to sugest where the fault might be.If they think it might be in the Telecom network, they will send someone out to have a look at it.

hope this helps

68312 2002-08-06 06:39:00 After getting di%ked around for ages I finally got someone useful. He had Telecom reset the port and all is happy again. wotz (335)
