68363 2002-08-06 04:45:00 If that's the case, then why muk about with DOS? risking causing a seaman a few headaches with setting DOS up (Know what to do when you get an Out of RAM error?)

There's a few windoze CAD freebies out there somewhere...

68364 2002-08-06 06:14:00 I'm afraid your negativity irritates me Elwin, why bother to post if you cant contribute?

Having said that, which I didn't want to, there's nothing wrong with neat small dos programs many of which will run under windows anyway.

In any case if you had bothered to examine the cad programs at:
www.simtel.net

You would have found these freeware progs;
cslte352.exe
justcad5.exe
think2d.zip

There are other shareware programs specifically for house plans that may have some limitations like fastp70.zip until paid for, but may well be useable and satisfy the needs of 'disabledseaman'

That's easy enough to figure out. It would be a waste to have a GHz AMD chip with plain SD-SDRAM.

How he knows that it's a Duron and not an Athlon though. THat's got me stumped.

68366 2002-08-06 06:43:00 I was just wondering why all the focus was on DOS! And suggesting that if poster wasn't very clued up with DOS, then he/she could run into problems therefore would be easier to suggest windows programs?!?!?

What got up your butt today?????

68368 2002-08-06 08:08:00 The TurboCAD looks like a good programme at the price --- $8.95 for the mag --- and full featured (It is free because they have released the next version). An argument against it (and other Windows ones), is that it is so good. Some of the DOS ones might be easier to use. But it's certainly worth learning. Graham L (2)
