68715 2002-08-06 11:04:00 what are "nfo" files? -- why can't i open them? jayal (1291)
68716 2002-08-06 11:25:00 "nfo" files are associated with Microsoft System Information application (Msinfo32.exe) or an older version of this program. Usually this application is installed with MS Office, I believe. If you have MSinfo installed you should be able to double click on the nfo file and load it. The files just contain a verbose 'snapshot' of your system state at the time it was captured. Rod J (451)
68717 2002-08-06 11:51:00 .nfo files found in ZIP files are information files. They will open with a plain text viewer/editor such as notepad, or in winzip - open with internal viewer.

These files usually contain information of the owner / provider/ source url etc. and may contain installation instructions.

68718 2002-08-06 11:55:00 NFO files are usually simple ascii text file. So you can open them with notepad. boom23 (176)
68719 2002-08-06 11:58:00 nfo files are what Rod said. But there are also other nfo files.

If it's the one's that I think it is. Try just opening them in Notepad. ;)

68721 2002-08-06 12:30:00 JM and Elwin- Yes, I was wondering if he might be referring to one of those 'other' nfo files :D Actually, I have associated .nfo files with notepad on my PC because I can't see any use for them being associated with MSInfo anyway ;) Rod J (451)
