| 68724 | 2002-08-06 11:21:00 | Hello...While installing a video player Windows came up with the following message. "The file OLEAUT.DLL is out of date. This program needsa newer version." Could someone please help with this or point me to the info I need on how to replace the file. Cheers...Ken |

| 68727 | 2002-08-06 11:40:00 | If during installation, you see messages such as this your version of DCOM95 needs to be updated on your Windows 95 system. It is a Microsoft patch. There is an equivalent for Windows 98 called DCOM98 but it usually comes with it and does not need to be patched. DCOM was formerly called OLE Automation. |

| 68728 | 2002-08-08 12:07:00 | Thanks folks....The installs that failed were Twins video player and halfway through an install of an ancient version of Wordperfect from floppies the same message stopped me and cancelling the warning and aborting the install. All on win98. Now, the good thing is that since I installed the file that you suggested everything seems to be running just fine!!! THANKS...Could you let me know what area on the huge MS site such files are to be found and some idea of how to navigate to them. Good wishes...Ken. |

| 68729 | 2002-08-08 12:21:00 | Paradox, Normally I use Google (www.google.com) to search for a particular search_item_string (e.g. "oleaut.dll") but the Microsoft KnowledgeBase (support.microsoft.com) and TechNet (www.microsoft.com) sites can also be 'easily' searched in a similar manner. Babe. |
