69366 2002-08-08 07:48:00 Hi There

I'm building the new beast, and want USB ports on the front panel. My motherboard has the connectors in the right place, but the nice noo case has no front panel USB ports.
Duz anyone know where/if you can buy/procure/burgle them???, say, to fit a 3.5" of 5.25" bay hole??

Any comments welcome.

69367 2002-08-09 04:43:00 There may be other options, but have a look at the Kanguru product range as a possibility:

www.kanguru.com

This one has a flat front, but my leetle grey cells say that I have seen a more elaborate curved insert for a front panel that includes usb connectors and other assorted goodies. Darned if I can find it though...

. mallnz . co . nz/sites/advantage/" target="_blank">www . mallnz . co . nz

and look for USB Accessories in the left hand menu bar . There is a thing there called a Smart Multi Function Panel, and it includes:

Line in Plug: Connect audio sources such as microphone, line-out from TV & VCR, etc .

Line out Plug: For speakers, earphone & headset

Game Port: For easy use of Joystick

Temperature sensor display: To monitor CPU / HDD / System or VGA Chip temperature & prevent overheat

Size: Fit-in 5 . 25" Front Tray

* The loop thru cables required to run the ports are included with the Panel (i . e . your PC needs a firewire card etc . for these ports to be active)

Price: $64 . 44 x GST $72 . 50 inc GST

If you got one of those, probably none of your friends would have one, so you MAY look supa cool . . .

69370 2002-08-09 07:06:00 It would be easy enough to drill and file holes for the connectors in the disk hole blanking panels. I'd do that rather than pay $64. But I'm mean.;\ And I've got drills and files. I haven't got any computers that modern, so I don't need to ;-) Graham L (2)
