69308 2002-08-08 06:13:00 I am still having trouble trying to make an image stretch right to the edges in Word to create a letterhead. No matter what I do, when it prints it leaves about a .5cm space at the edge. Any ideas? denise (1155)
69309 2002-08-08 06:20:00 As pointed out in the last post you made on this, most printers cannot print to the very edge.

My printer manual (HP Laserjet 2100) will not print closer than 6.4mm from the edges.

You'll probably find that your printer won't print any closer to the edge than that :(

69311 2002-08-08 06:33:00 This is an annoying problem - I use an Aficio 250 from Richo for alot of printing for work, and it likes to leave 10mm.

69312 2002-08-08 06:35:00 Apart from the printer limitations, there will be left- and right-margin settings within Word. That's what's stopping you from dragging out to the edges.

You can try setting the margins to 0.0, but whether you can print to the edges will depend on your printer.

69313 2002-08-08 06:36:00 You can try to fool it by telling it that it has a non standard paper width, but that will cause off-centre printing. Also beware the reason for the forced margins is more to do with toner/ink spillage off the paper edge which will quickly foul your printer and make copies quite dirty. godfather (25)
69314 2002-08-08 06:47:00 Printers can't print right to the very edge of paper Denise, you're asking the impossible. They need to have an area that they can "grip" to feed the paper through and the printheads can't reach over to that "grip area".

Why don't you just trim your paper around those edges after printing and then your heading will cover the entire area that you want it to.

Or maybe make a graduated background for your letterhead so that the edges fade out from a denser middle. Word can do that in the formatting somewhere.
