69137 2002-08-10 02:55:00 Tim,

You've asked about reformatting, reinstalling, driver problems etc. NONE of these can be done without the Windows CD.

If a computer is sold with Windows on it then you should be given the windows disk, manual and serial number for it to be legal.

Ask the technician who looks at your computer tomorrow about this.

69139 2002-08-10 03:36:00 Okay, I won't compare u to him, no offense was meant.
This is s'posed to be a place where you can ask any computer related question isn't it? For me, I can also help out with some of them. When I don't know the answer to something, I'm glad that I can come here to find out. For me, I'm just not gonna visit this post anymore, and I know that the moderators will deal with anything such as somebody being a pain or flaming off at somebody in the message boards. I'm not trying to be a lecturer or anything, no offense was meant, please accept my apoligies.

Right, I'm off to check out who else has posted today

69140 2002-08-10 17:09:00 I have a copy of Win ME that I am not using; would be glad to get something for it. To bad we are in different citys. Do you know someone in Chch. who can act as an intermediary, IF you are interested, you can make me an offer by email. Vince Vince (406)
69141 2002-08-11 09:25:00 Just laughed my way through all the posts since I last looked .

Poppa John, Britt Ekland was the wife I was referring to . Caused a bit of heart “overclocking” I understand . (poor bugger) I think he had about five in all . (wives that is)

The 1Q5GT’s and DL36’s were valve types used in little battery powered “Hiker’s One” single valve radio kitsets sold by “SOS Radio” and “Lamphouse” back in the 1950”s . There was always great debate between budding radio techs as to which was the better valve to use .
(didn’t have F1 in those days)

The real benefit of these little sets was that you had headphones and parents didn’t know what you were listening to! After all, Elvis, The Goons, etc . were forbidden on fathers 8 valve “Philco”

Cheers

Bob

69142 2002-08-11 09:52:00 BM I guess Sellars died happy but tired. A good way to go. As to the valve Nos, I recognise the numbering system (?) now you have jogged my memory. I finished school 1953 mid December & started work the following Monday. I knew nothing of those radios that you mention. However on my 16th birthday I was given "A Crystal Set" & a glass Accumulater to power it. Absolute Magic back then. Walking down Memory Lane Poppa John :( Poppa John (284)
