69618 2002-08-09 04:05:00 I have set up 2 PCs with network cards and a crossover cable both win98SE . I have enabled internet connection sharing, One of them has a 56K modem and all is OK.

I soon will install a Nokia NI200 PCI ADSL modem and get jetstream

Will my existing ICS software work ok or do i nee other software
Your help appreciated

69619 2002-08-09 04:09:00 Should do, you may need to change what connection it uses on the gateway and on the other one, the default will be the dial-up unless you change it.
You shouldn't need ay more software, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've not had to so far.

69620 2002-08-09 04:33:00 Probably too late, but using an ADSL modem/router is much more secure, plus easy to set up.

Havent had to use an internal ADSL, but should follow the line of the 56k, where the ADSL is another network adapter via a gateway from your network.

I went through setting up a broadband connection, only to find with the router, that once it was on the network all PCs found it without being told (Win XP).

All I had to do was stop them from using dial-up (which they try and do if an address does not exist, they think it will then be available from dialup)
