69571 2002-08-09 02:02:00 exactly, so develop it from there....think laterally not logically

I am not going to give it away, I believe I know the answer and there is a SIGNIFICANT clue in the wording of the original post.

69572 2002-08-09 02:02:00 Heather - what did the mini have to do with it? Just because it was on the footpath... it might have been the girl's friends come to visit. Elwin Way (229)
69573 2002-08-09 02:08:00 I know. Suzie saw the inside of the cellar, and in a casual phone conversation, mentioned it to Grandma who called the pi oops police.

You see, the story is set in America, where it is quite common to have cellars. However, it is set in a state where cellars have been made illegal. They were made illegal after a year long police investigation revealed that cellars were being used as meeting places by a secret cult organisation called "Servants of the Sacred Cellar".

See, I make a great D!

69576 2002-08-09 05:01:00 Could this be WW2 where she was a Jew? Chilling_Silence (9)
69577 2002-08-09 05:13:00 From godfather's cryptic clues I have this idea that I, I mean Suzie saw a mirror but I don't know why .

What's so awful about seeing a mirror that my, I mean Suzie's parents got hauled away?

OK Shroeder, time's up . Give us the answer or godfather is going to have his arm twisted off . :D

69578 2002-08-09 05:20:00 Susan, you disappoint us...(assuming I am right of course)

Another clue then.....which side of the door was she *normally*?
godfather (25)
69579 2002-08-09 05:25:00 Well, leaving aside the mini and the talkative parrot...

She must have been kept in the cellar. When she opened the door she met a policeman who was there checking out the house because the neighbours had seen a talkative parrot (knew it was there somewhere!) fly in and thought it was the spotter for a gang of theives that had been perusing the neighbourhood. They thus called the police.

It became apparent that the cellar was, in actual fact, Suzie's normal home. Not only was she home alone BUT she was truant from a school which she had never actually atttended - either in or out of a mini with friends!
