I want a solution which will directly read the CompactFlash memory from my digital camera and write it to a portable hard drive or CD-writer or something else (that is small), so I don't have to carry a laptop around with me when I travel. Does anyone have any ideas? I envisaged a CF reader writing directly to a portable CD-writer without a PC, but I don't think such a device exists. |

Any good camera shop will be able to read your CF card and write the contents to CD for you. As should any decent computer store. |

A computer is required to read and transfer the files. I know it would be useful to do what you want, but do not believe such a device exists. Even a portable CDR would need a computer...
I use 256 Mb CF and 4x32 Mb SmartMedia cards to give sufficient time away from a pc. |
