| 69964 | 2002-08-10 09:05:00 | hi all, does anyone know how I can convert an audio tape recording into digital format? I'm looking for a short cut to transcribe an interview. i know there are voice to text converters so if I can convert audio to digital audio then I can eventually get text? assistance is sought on my 'ingenious' plan! |

| 69965 | 2002-08-10 09:33:00 | Your "ingenious plan" will, I fear, take longer than typing it in and is likely to be unsuccessful. You do not need to convert the tape to digital, as all voice - to - text take analogue input into the PC. As each persons voice is a bit unique the PC must be "trained" to accept the voice and interpret it correctly. This can take from 1/2 hour tp many hours. You would feed the audio into the "line input" on the sound card. Also the process requires VERY clean audio with no background noise. Not the sort of thing a tape is likely to give? Office XP has voice dictation built in, also available is Dragon Dictate and another from IBM. Nobody appears to use it widely, I know I have tried it and given up. Correcting the errors takes longer than typing often, and thats with very clean audio. |
