70271 2006-06-27 12:55:00 Dear Mods,

Can we auto lock the real old posts pressf1.pcworld.co.nz ?

Are you suggesting that all posts by people who search this forum should be locked if replying to a previous post over five years, four years, three years, two years, one year, six months, three months, two weeks or what.

In which case you may as well shut down the search feature on this forum as well.

People use Google and find information on this site. Sorry that some do not look at the original posting date but I do not think that is too much of a worry.

Could you post the answer here?
I am curious.

Here is what I & Bruce said:

Stu, I'll check with Jim - it is likely there is a setting in VB that lets us do this automatically -- lock the threads after a set time.

Subject IDG Online Mail: Message from Stuart W - Suggestion for PressF1

Hello Bruce

I have a Suggestion for PressF1.

I/PressF1 members have noticed that recently a lot of new members post in
threads that are old as the hills i.e. from 1998 etc.. Take for example
pressf1.co.nz

One of the PressF1 members “JamesKan” suggested about locking all the older
threads so new members/members looking for answers don’t bump up those
threads.

What do you think?, people can still read them etc..

I know you & The Mods (Jen & Chill (Chilling_Silence)) don’t have the time
or energy to do this.

At the moment especially Friday nights/weekends I have a lot of free time
So I am putting up my hand to volunteer to do this, all I need is a weekend
( Friday to Monday night) to do it & Super Moderator powers for that time.

Let me know what you think :-)

Best Regards
Stu aka stu161204
