| 70883 | 2002-08-14 03:24:00 | i have a pentium desktop pc, fitted with a dynalink voicecard 56 pro V1456vqh-r internal modem, which was assembled by the former PC direct auckland some years ago. since moving to australia, i cannot get the modem to dial - when i select connect - the modem is heard to click and then click again ( i assume on and then off) and the error message "error680: there is no dialtone...." appears. i have a verified that the dial tone is present as my laptop quite happliy dials, although i note that it is a different tone from NZ, i have also unselected "wait for dialtone before dialing" in the modem settings. i wondered if it was related to the change in countries as i note the laptop has a handy little piece of software for chaning the dialing properties in relation to country ? to recognise different dial tones??? |

If not, that will be the problem, in that the desktop cannot see the phone line. The Australian dial tone is not all that different to those found in many hotels etc in NZ If you really think its the dial tone difference, download the drivers for you modem, from an Australian site and as used in Australia. |
