71227 2002-08-15 05:22:00 I've got Win2K Proffessional, and want to install it onto my computer running Win98SE, I'm happy to over-write windows, if it's possible without formatting, otherwise, I'd like to be able to multi-boot. Thing is, I can't loose my data.

I don't have Partition magic or anything, I know I can install Win2K on a Fat32 Partition (Which is what I'm using)

Please help, as I'd like to get going tonight

Thanks

71228 2002-08-15 05:32:00 You've got ranish haven't you? Why not use that to repartition.? Graham L (2)
71229 2002-08-15 05:44:00 Nope, lost it ages ago, and it still kills all data.
I have a fat32 partition with a few gig free, I'm not sure If I can multi-boot or not, and if so, can I do it without partitioning, coz I know Win2K can live on a Fat32 Partition, coz I'm setting it up at work right now.
Hey, I just had a thought, I'll see if its in the FAQ about multi-booting?!?!?!

71230 2002-08-15 05:54:00 Okay, Checked out the FAQ, but that relies on partitioning, I'd really rather not, I know I'm being stubborn, but still...

Is it possible to multiboot 98SE and Win2K on a FAT32 Partition?

Thanks

71231 2002-08-15 06:49:00 Installing 98 and 2K on the same partition will not work. This is because the 'Program Files' folder becomes the centre of a turf war between 2K and 98. They both like to put files in there; -For example 98's active desktop will explode if it attempts to use files from Win 2K's Internet Explorer.

The only hope would be to (and this pains me to even mention) upgrade 98 to 2K.
