71156 2002-08-15 00:52:00 The scrolling wheel on my Genius mouse works fine with the browser, Eudora, Acrobat reader and sundry other programmes, but it will not scroll in Word 97. Any ideas on how it could be made to function in Word? Sami (667)

71158 2002-08-15 01:21:00 Well Device Manager, Mouse properties, Driver file details says:

PS/2 Compatible Mouse and lists three drivers:

VMM32.VXD (Vmouse.VXD), MSMouse.VXD, and Mouse.drv.

Comments: provider and file version not available.

Any of this make sense?

71159 2002-08-15 03:05:00 Probably because not all, and especially older programs are made with a wheel mouse in mind. SoniKalien (792)

71163 2002-08-15 05:32:00 I have a Genius Net Mouse Pro, and use Word 97. (Windows 98.)

It does not have a scrolling wheel but does have a middle button, plus an extra side button.

Have you looked at: Start/settings/control panel/mouse/mode

There is a setting there that I have to choose in order for the extra buttons to work correctly in Word 97

The two choices are for Office 97, or Netmouse pro. I have to select Netmouse Pro. There is a description there also that tells you what each option will do.

71165 2002-08-15 05:35:00 Yeahh, for what its worth

I'm at work and using WIN 95 (don't ask) but I use an intellimouse in WIN 98 at home. No problem with WORD 97 and my memory has it that if you call up "settings and MOUSE you get a whole list of options for each package in use and the functions you can allocate to the wheel (including using it as a middle button.)
